Museum of Illusions Athens is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continuously improving the user experience of our website in accordance with national legislation incorporating Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and aligning with EN 301 549 v3.2.1 and WCAG 2.1 level AA standards.
Scope of the Declaration
This accessibility statement applies to:

Compliance status
This website is:
Partially compliant with EN 301 549 v3.2.1 and WCAG 2.1 level AA due to the deviations and/or exceptions listed below.
Inaccessible Content
(a) Non-compliance with accessibility requirements
The content listed below is not fully accessible due to non-compliance with EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.1 level AA standards:
- Absence of bypass links - The pages do not include hidden bypass links, which would allow keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive blocks (e.g. menus) and go directly to the main content.
- Absence of bypass links - The pages do not include hidden bypass links, which would allow keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive blocks (e.g. menus) and go directly to the main content.
- Language toggle - It does not have descriptive alternative text to indicate that it works as a language option.
- The screen reader may skip some links.
- Magnification causes layout problems - Enlarging the text (e.g. 200%) causes layout problems on some pages.
- The contrast setting affects the visibility of the logo - Turning on high contrast mode can make the logo disappear.
- Inconsistent compatibility with screen readers - Screen reader behavior may vary depending on the tool used; in some cases, it may not work correctly.
- Problems with focus indicator - Keyboard navigation does not always visually indicate the item in focus.
- "Buy Tickets" button - The "Buy Tickets" button is not visually highlighted when navigating with a keyboard, which can be confusing for users without a mouse.
(b) Disproportionate burden
While we are committed to addressing accessibility issues, some improvements are disproportionately burdensome due to technical complexity, third-party dependencies or significant resource requirements. These include:
- - Full compatibility with screen readers on all devices and tools, due to differences in operation between technologies.
- - Layout fixes for all zoom/response scenarios, especially on older devices or unusual screen resolutions.
- - Real-time updates or fixes for third-party services (e.g. ticketing systems or embedded widgets) that we do not manage or develop.
- Parts of this website rely on an external provider to manage ticketing for Museum of Illusions. While we strive to provide an accessible experience across our platform, we do not have complete control over the functionality and accessibility of external systems or elements provided by third parties.
- After careful evaluation, fully adapting the third ticketing system to accessibility requirements is currently considered a disproportionate burden on our organisation, both technically and financially. We continue to work with the service provider to encourage accessibility improvements and are actively exploring alternatives that meet accessibility standards without impacting overall functionality and user experience.
We are actively working to improve accessibility and will continue to provide updates where possible.
(c) Outside the scope of the legislation
- Content from third-party platforms that is not sponsored, developed or controlled by us, such as embedded social media widgets or third-party booking tools.
